Description:  B&O 1835 was parked in the deadline at the former C&O yards at Huntington, WV on 12-28-1986. Note the peeling paint on the cab roof and the builder's plate on the battery box (probably no place on the frame, what with all those louvers!). Unit was set up to run long-hood forward.

Description:  B&O 4810 was in the deadline at the Chessie System (ex-C&O) shops at Huntington, WV on 12-28-1986. Note the visible engine, the messed-up running boards, missing handrails, and the empty numberboard on the left side. There is a large B&O emblem on the end of the long hood. I don't know what ever happened to this unit--was it repaired, sold, scrapped?

Description:  C&O 3000, the class unit, heads west in the former C&O yard at Huntington, WV. Date is uncertain. Unit has received a fresh "Chessie System" paint scheme. Note the horns (a set on each side of the headlight), battery box slot (allegedly to prolong battery life by providing easier cleaning); and large Chessie logo which nearly covers the entire nose.
