The SILVER STIRRUP was planned to be renumbered as BN #4686, but this was not applied, and it was sold to Amtrak in 1971 as #9456. It was retired in February 1984 and sold to the Alaska RR, where it was initially planned to become #7003, but instead became #7034. It was resold in October 1986 to Denver Railcar as DRCX #7034/#800334, and was used on several operations, including the Roaring Fork RR, the Texas Southern/TEXAS LIMITED, Mexican American Railways (charters based in Nogales), and the ACADIAN. Built in 1953 by Budd in Lot #9613-135 as AT&SF 48 seat leg rest chair #2835, 1 of 45 such cars (#2816-#2860) built in that Lot, which was ordered in September 1952; cars were delivered between September and December 1953. In 1971, Amtrak acquired 42 of these chairs as #4810-#4828 and #4850-#4872, the #2835 as #4827. In 1980, Amtrak converted 40 of these chairs to HEP as #4700-#4739, the #4827 was converted to #4714 in March of that year. In 1982-1983, Amtrak reconfigured 10 of these chairs to 88 seat coaches for the CLOCKER service, the #4714 was reconfigured to #7627 in March 1983. 3 of these reconfigured cars, including the #7627, were sold in 1997 to the Providence & Worcester. 2 of these 3 cars received names, the #7627 was named RHODE ISLAND.
