UP #1429 PACIFIC OCEAN
Pair of former UP 10 roomette-6 double bedroom (10RM-6DB) sleepers operating on the Northeast Corridor at Frankford Junction. Both these cars were built by Budd in 1949-1950 in Lot #9660-039 to Pullman Plan #9522; the #1429 PACIFIC OCEAN was built in March 1950, was sold to Amtrak in 1971 as #2622, was converted to head end power (HEP) in 1980 as #2437, was retired in 2001 and sold to Illinois Transit Assembly (ITAX), which used it as a parts source; at last check, the PACIFIC OCEAN was still at the former ITAX, now Gateway Coach, facility in Madison, IL. Scanned with an Epson V550 from a Kodak-processed Ektachrome original 35mm slide. Exact date is approximate.
