Busy day  Contributor's Pick!
Great Neck was always a busy place at train time. The double track on the Port Washington Branch ended here, so trains often met at the station. The schedule had them meeting at the next station west, Little Neck, but things being what they are, meets here were common. The idea was that the westbound would clear, allowing the eastbound to move on with no delay. Its not always a perfect world, and this pair didnt quite meet as intended. The eastbound train, on the right, is just now pulling out, having got his signal, while the westbound makes his stop.
