LI 617
Title:  LI 617
Description:  A former Long Island Railroad rebuilt Power Pack is on home rails in the yard, originally constructed by Alco as New Haven Railroad 0428 an FA-1. Assigned to pull mainline freight on the New Haven, it was retired by Penn Central and sold to the Long Island. The LIRR had the unit rebuilt as a cab control unit for use on diesel powered trains, first working with Alco C-420s and later EMD MP15 and GP38-2 units. It is one of two known New Haven FA-1s to survive today.
