MEC 517 Leads L077 off of the Mountain Branch in Portland  Contributor's Pick!
During the winter months propane season keeps the Maine railroads busy, and in the Portland are this is a really good thing as the once hugely rail served city is down to just a handful of customers and the carload customers in the Deering area are down to about once a week service. L077; the Monday through Friday Portland/Westbrook/Brunswick etc. daytime local returns to Rigby Yard with a buffer and three empty propane tank cars from Dead River in Westbrook. Lately the norm for this local has been a Westbrook run Monday-Wednesday-Friday, a Brunswick run on Tuesday and a Deering run on Thursday. The crew will do a quick runaround upon reaching the yard, put the cars on a siding and then call it a day.
