| This is one handsome 4-6-2 Pacific taht once served the elite passenger service on the Erie RR. Built by Baldwin in April of 1923, this Erie 4-6-2 Pacific #2942 came already equipped with an Elesco feedwater heater and several other improvements over the earlier Alco Pacifics. The loco was involved in an accident in Lima, OH on December 22, 1932 but was rebuilt. In 1941, a larger tender holding 24 tons of coal and 16,500 gallons of water was added. After nearly 29 years of service, the loco was dismantled by the Lederer Iron & Steel Co. in Cleveland, OH on 12/13/1952. This is a aul Prescott photo. |
