PRR 8669 (#3 of 4), AS-18AM, 1961
Everyday. Here is an original photo that I took of a Pennsylvania Railroad train in Hollidaysburg, Pennsylvania, on 09 August 1961. Shown here are some of the new hopper cars (produced by the Samuel Rea Shop) being pulled by PRR engines #8669 and #8672 up the New Portage Branch via the Muleshoe Curve to Gallitzin and points West. The Allegheny Mountains that they will surmount are visible in the distance. Also visible are gondola cars parked next to Sender's Junk Yard and the second PRR track from Hollidaysburg to the Wye Switches in Duncansville; these two tracks occupy the original right-of-way for the Allegheny Portage Railroad. This photo taken from the PRR caboose on static display as part of Hollidaysburg's 125th Anniversary Celebration. ("Red Shift" slide converted to Black & White.)
