Monon Turntable and Roundhouse  Contributor's Pick!
Interesting view turntable and roundhouse from 1963. I believe the 75 foot, 150 ton turntable and the 10 stall turntable both date back to at least 1905. MON #22 sits just beyond the table and the iconic Hammond water tower can easily be seen in the far background. What appears to be a former heavyweight passenger car now appears to serve as a shed. Robert Farkas General The water tower looks so out of place because it is too modern for the rest of the image. 9/10/2016 3:10:16 PM
Eric Reinert General The side walls of the Roundhouse may date that far back, but the rest was rebuilt after it burned to the ground in 1941 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-C9h40SyuUs. The retired passenger car served as crew quarters. 8/8/2017 11:34:37 AM
