KCS Meet
KCS trains 55 - in the foreground - and 54 were parked across from one another on the Southern Railway's New Orleans Terminal Co. at the Labarre Road Grade crossing in suburban Metairie. No. 55 had GP40-2 799, F7B slug 4077 and GP40 786. It originated in Dallas and was on its way to the Southern's OLIVER YARD. No. 54 had GP40-2 797, F7B slug 4076 and GP38-2 4002. It originated at the Seaboard System's GENTILLY YARD here in New Orleans and was on its way to Dallas. A Southern crew had brought the train over the NOTCO five miles from L&N Junction, and the same crew would head back east with No. 55. A KCS station wagon has come over from their nearby WEST YARD with a road crew for No. 54, and would return to the yard with the crew off of No. 55. KCS and Southern cordiatd the departure of No. 54 from L&N Junction with the arrival of No. 55, so scenes like this occurred regularly.
