| Built in 1957 by Budd in Lot #9601-209 as AT&SF baggage-express #3546, 1 of 15 such cars (#3540-#3554) built in that Lot, which was ordered in February 1957; cars were delivered between September and October of that year. In 1971, Amtrak acquired all 15 of these cars as #1054-#1068; the #3546 as #1060. In 1977-1978, Amtrak converted these 15 cars to HEP; the #1060 was converted to #1232 in 1977.
