GG1 Out to Pasture: 4877 at Perth Amboy, 1983
After GG1s were retired from their main NY-Washington stomping grounds, the best place to find them was on their daily commuter runs between NY and South Amboy. On this summer day in 1983, just a few months before all GG1s would be retired, 4877 GG1 4877, repainted in PRRs classic tuscan red color scheme, drifts light through the station at Perth Amboy, New Jersey, in a cut overflowing with lush growth. Check out all that classic jointed Pennsy rail.
