The numbering scheme was all over the map on these 1500HP units. Erie bought 6 As and 6 Bs, while DL&W bought 9 and 6.

Chuck Zeiler General The E-L F-unit numbering system actually made a bit of sense; the units kept their as-built numbers, except a number was substituted for the suffix letter. Letter A = 1, letter B = 2, letter C = 3 and letter D = 4. Using that formula, you can easily deduce that 7114 was built as 711D. 5/8/2012 2:58:10 PM
