L&N C30-7 #7008, leading another C30-7. an SD40-2 and an Atlanta & West Point GP7 with a Port of Mobile (AL) bound coal train,
The brakeman on Western Railway of Alabama train "Extra Louisville & Nashville 7008 west" has just snagged train orders on the fly from the operator at Opelika. Look just over the radiator of the lead unit and you can see the westbound train order board is in the "45" position indicating there is a train order for this train.

Bryan Smith General Another lost art.....train orders on the fly. You haven't lived until you are standing a few feet from the track....dead of night...raining....and all you can see is this headlight coming at you getting bigger and brighter...and out of the darkness an arm appears from the window. And they said safety first??? 8/8/2010 10:37:19 PM
