PRR 6513, GF-25A, 1966
Title:  PRR 6513, GF-25A, 1966
Description:  12th Street. Here is an original photo that I took of a Pennsylvania Railroad train in Altoona, Pennsylvania, during March of 1966. Shown here (L to R) are PRR engines #6513 and #5842. #6513 is a GF-25A built by General Electric in 1965 and rated at 2,500 horsepower. #5842 is an EP-20 built in 1947 and rated at 2,000 horsepower. In this photo, #6513 is in the process of coupling with #5842 to help pull the passenger train up the Allegheny Mountains via the Horseshoe Curve to Gallitzin ~ whereupon #6513 will uncouple and return to Altoona for yet another helper/pusher run up the Mountains. Note the railroader on the other side of the tracks, who will couple all of the necessary hoses.

Visible in the distance are the 12th Street Bridge and two of the original PRR 12th Street Car Shop buildings.
